?

People have contracted/died from STDs forever. Large numbers of people.

Think of it this way. At no other time in human history have we

1. Had this much knowledge of the causes of STDs.

and

2. More access to FREE Preventive measures like condoms.

And despite these two facts, STD rates are still hitting record highs.

Now for the past 50 years the prevailing wisdom when it comes to sex has been to have as much sex as you want with whomever you want, as long as you "educated" yourself and "use protection". Well the results of this way of thinking speak for themselves I'd say. Do you not agree?

No. The real answer is monogamy. And if you're being honest with yourself, you know I'm right.

As a super-intellectual, I'm rarely honest with myself, but I do know that you're right about this.

Or, you know, actually have the brains to use the methods that reduce the risks to almost 0.

That works too.

While we're being honest, I fully realize the notion of monogamy is rejected by modern society as outdated. But it's that line of thinking that that has gotten us into the shithole we find ourselves today.

In fact, it's our rejection of monogamy as a society that has lead to most of our problems. If we as a country would go back to the notion of one man and one woman raising a family together, so many of our problems would vanish.

The argument you're making is akin to a communist saying communism really will work one day if they just do it right this time.

You can blame LBJ's Great Society for much of that.

Huh? In all honestly, I'm a pretty liberal hippie douchebag, and I'm married to one lady. Most of my liberal hippie douchebag friends are the same. Not sure what crowds you run with but the eyes wide shut parties are the exception, not the norm.

Well, let's set aside the obvious one which this thread is about, namely the record breaking STD epidemic. So, sitting that aside I'll give just one problem that some would consider pretty big....

Single parent homes

The numbers don't lie. Look at what the rise in single parent homes has meant for our country.

I'm not talking about swinger parties and shite.

I'm talking about the notion of sleeping around outside a committed relationship. The "baby daddy" mindset.

OR ..... OR .... Have a little personal accountability. If you don't then you deserve whatever befalls you.

Taking responsibility for the consequences of one's actions is a valuable virtue.

Don't want an STD? Be monogamous, be abstinent, or wrap it up.

Simple really.

So then you're talking about youthful promiscuity, yeah I think that's been around as long as private parts. Horny teenagers aren't a new thing.

I'm all about personal accountability. But again, if we're being honest we all know deep down inside the answer to solve this problem is monogamy. Until we return to that concept, the STD problem will only get worse.

Were you a virgin when you met your wife? I’m asking earnestly.

I think one partner at a time is great. I also think that people have been ruled by their sexual appetites since the dawn of time, so I don’t really trust monogamy to be realistic. People are generally scumbags, so we sort of deserve what we get.

If that's he case, why are STD levels going up even though we have more sex Ed and condoms available than at any other time? Are you saying today's people are dumber than they use to be and now we. Any figure out how to use comdoms? What's changed?

Take his opinion with a grain of salt. He has unresolved issues from being statutorily raped as a 12 year old by his ugly housekeeper.

There are more people on the planet, thus higher numbers. I’m not sure that the percentage of the population contracting diseases is massively increased. Also, I believe more people are being tested than historically.

You can't get an STD from masturbating, can you?
