As a former LEO, this is a bad shoot. Any attorney will point out she never aggressively swung the shovel at the officer, only picked up to her shoulder once, and beat it on the ground.
This is a situation when non-lethal force should be used. OC spray, taser, hand tactics. He was never in a position to have physical harm against him or anyone else for that matter. He should have either used non-lethal methods, or kept the suspect controlled with loud vocal commands, until assistance arrived on scene.
Dude is going to be fired and most likely arrested.

Meh, he still didn't need to shoot her at that point. Does he have backup coming? Keep the gun on her until she actually attacks someone.. and meanwhile wait for backup to arrive with better equipment to disarm her.. Perhaps tactical gear/helmet?
I find her non compliant due to possible intoxication, but I don't see her all that threatening at that point. She seemed to just be walking away at the point he shoots her.
Not sure the situation warrants it. What if this was some mentally disabled person who wasn't compliant after 100 lawful orders and holding a shovel? Or someone was drugged? Or someone took a medication that caused a horrible reaction. Some sleeping meds cause you to behave in ways you'd never imagine.
I do appreciate he didn't unload into her.. at least gave her a chance to survive. She's not coming at him and only has a shovel.. I think if you are going to shoot in this situation then shoot her foot or something.. see if she drops the shovel..

Yes. That is an M113 armored personnel carrier command vehicle used in Vietnam. Drove one, commanded one and got blown off of one. The cops don’t need this. You can mount a .50 cal and two M 60 machine guns on it. Just the thing for serving a warrant at a meth lab. As I recall, it weighs about 23,000 lbs. pleasant dreams.

I swear, having good judgment as a police officer is not a requirement anymore. Could have easily been tasered. Unbelievable. Quick to always shoot. I get that she was trailer trash but we do need gas station clerks in society.

Cop brings a gun to a shovel fight, except that there isn't even a fight.

Another Live Leak Video shows an OKC cop physically beating a teenage girl on a bike bc she shoved her license (ID) at him in an aggressive weapon like manner. AN ID IN HER HAND THAT HE ASKED FOR! And no, he wasn’t punished for beating her and pepperspraying her.

Good shoot. Being a woman shouldn't get you a pass. The lesson is don't get drunk + use a shovel as a weapon. It's pretty simple. Here's an example:

Not a clean kill imo. She was retreating and he was advancing. She wasn't an immediate threat to anyone at the moment of shooting

She didn't follow his commands, had the weapon and he had to protect those in the area. He ended the threat
