In Nola they'll boot your car if you park on the street.
I bring tools in my car to remove said boot if this ever happens.

Few years ago someone (maybe Washington Post or New York Times?) wrote an article about NO speed cameras. Article mentioned that one issues the most tickets in the city.

Some takeaways from Sunday's WSJ story:
- The New Orleans traffic camera that issued the most tickets in 2018 was in the 3000 block of Canal Street between Gayoso and Salcedo streets, the reporters found. That's in front of Warren Easton Charter High School. In 2018, the camera issued 13,208 tickets.
One vehicle in New Orleans got 296 traffic camera tickets in less than two years. It owed more than $19,000 in fines in 2018, and the driver didn't pay anything, the story said. This car was the most frequent offender in all the national data the reporters examined.
New Orleans’ five most prolific traffic camera offenders in 2018 got a total of 559 tickets. None of the tickets were paid, and none of the cars were booted, the story said. The registrations for two of the cars were revoked for lapsed insurance and the owners of the other three canceled their plates, WSJ found

The offense is not against the driver. It's the owner of the vehicle.
It's a civil infraction like letting your grass grow too long. Allowing your vehicle to be operated that way.

So sort of like if you loaned a baseball bat to someone and they committed a crime with it and you got charged? That's complete bullshite.

Small rink a dink Livonia, LA just put one up on 190 and seeing the "Police Chief" comment on a random lady's Facebook post trying rationalize the use of the camera "for public safety" is hilarious.
It's all about the free money they get from putting up a camera and getting idiots that don't know any better to pay it. It's no different than the "This is the IRS and you owe us gift cards" scam.

Just don’t pay it. When you come back to Nola, just park in paid lots.

About 25% of them get paid in BR. They put speeding vans up in Livingston Parish like 20 years ago and they ended the program due to bullet damage to the vans

I have gotten those too on Canal Street.
The only people who appear to be working hard for the city of New Orleans are the meter maids.

Fortunately, I gave up paying then in NOLA and just park off street on the rare occasions when I can’t get out of going into NOLA…

Send them a letter saying that you demand and have the right to meet your accuser and you won’t pay a dime until you do

New Orleans used to get a LOT of my money. It barely gets any from me now.

Just don't pay it. Don't park on the street in Orleans parish and you good.
Posted on 4/18/23 at 11:29 pm to DrDolemite
I remember several threads thru the years saying not to pay them. What if you own a business in that city? Does that change things? I got one recently in a city I own a business and wondering if they could come after me about that?
EDIT: Baton Rouge was my red light ticket.
