It was an early issue because they hadn’t put enough pipe hangers or VEd some out. Like most things with this airport, it was predicted to be a catastrophe, but isn’t.

Baggage claim is slower than most. But that’s about the only gripe I have with it. It’s great to have the interstate ramp, but the Loyola route was never a problem. It wasn’t good planning to build that later, but it wasn’t a problem before it was finished.

That flyover was one of the most overblown complaints in NOLA history. Along with the bridge lights that people won’t stfu about. Sure, the construction was annoying. But the lack of flyover never seriously impacted my travel. Maybe I was just lucky.

I think they just started the project

I agree. I wonder how much of this is the system and how much of this is the local employees. Guess we will find out.

That is because the design is terrible. It was brought up several times as it was being designed and built. After the walk through by the airlines they had to knock a wall out to try and make it 'faster' to drop bags. It would have been worse had they not done that.

So 2 new terminals. Where are all these planes going to go with only 2 runways?

SAN does pretty well with 1 runway.

Looks pretty legit. I really like the new airport so making it even better is always welcome.

100% the design. It was told several times that it was a bad design but engineers always know better.

I thought it must be something like that.

MSY is too small to be that slow.

The baggage claim drop off is set up exactly like the old airport but with less claim belts. It was more spread out at the old one so multiple airlines could drop bags with little interference.

still is, it’s in Jefferson Parish, not NOLA!

Owned by the city of New Orleans, most of it is in Jefferson Parish, and one of the runways goes into St Charles Parish.

But for real, especially compared to what we had before the new airport is awesome.
