The new airport is going to be a huge headache once it is opened. I'm happy to stay at the old msy.

That's because FEMA basically told them their budget was "whatever you need it to be - just get the MFer open"

As sad as this is because it's typical Nola, im so happy it was delayed.

I have a big trip scheduled on May 15 and I was dreading flying out on the first day of opening.

I heard from a reliable source that they're going to blame it on the food & beverage vendors not being ready (The Airport was late in turning the spaces for vendors over to them

I don't know about "blame" but yes they aren't close. They had already admitted that some of the ones on the short concourse and before security weren't going to be open on May 15th.

Honestly this looks like 2-3 months more of construction needed, then testing and training. That was the joke about May 15th... maybe maybe if they tripled their workforce and went 24/7 they could get construction finished by May 13th... but then they still needed to test and train.

My guess is you will see construction end mid-summer and an open date after labor day, before the fall convention season hits.

Seriously, we can laugh at NOLA government but this is more the fault of our crappy construction companies and subs than anything else.

I'm laughing because the city has a bunch of commercials airing now bragging about the airport opening in may...

Absolutely.

But there's a difference when Boh has to stay on budget.

It's just like the rest of south LA. There is never any hurry to move quickly.
