So what's the charge if you've intentionally shot him in the hip or arse?

Depends on the state. Everyone always forgets that, but OT lawyers make sweeping statements that people in Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, etc. just internalize as truth.
I'm sure the burglar made no threats whatsoever about killing or f*cking up the guy that caught him, or anything related. I'm positive he was just looking for vape juice.

Considering there is video, he was shot in the back and the guy knowingly pled to 20 years I doubt that is the case.
