ahhhhhhh...and there you have it. you are one of those LA people. where nothing is better outside of the US's 50th ranked state.
while I will contend I love visiting NOLA, don't put lipstick on a pig.

According to the average OT baw, New Orleans is made up of just Bourbon Street and a hundred or so public housing projects. They come to town to get hand grenades, walk up and down Bourbon, and eat some of that great "cajun" food at Bubba Gumps and Deanies.
I thought Bubba Gump was gone. Where they eatin' now? So I can stay away.

New Orleans could have been a rival to Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago in every way if not for their politics and the people that live there.
It should be much, much more than a tourist city. I'm afraid it's future is more like Charleston or Savannah than the economic powerhouse the state and region need it to be. I want so much for Louisiana, but none of that will happen in my lifetime. Which likely means my family will lose ties to the state as we continue to move away.

A lot of people would rather live in Nola than some cookie cutter Texas suburb. Which one do you call home again?

Yep. And I'll be there in Tulane Stadium with my friend Wayne Higgins drinking beer and cheering for the Green Wave.
Come on, man, you think I'm a Tulane fan? I just like to yell at people: I WANT TO SUCK THAT TIGER DICK, BITCH !

It's not that bad. It's just got private school tuition and state school job placement. Who wants to pay $200K for an education that lands you a $50K/yr job?
These are what Tulane considers peer institutions: Duke, Vanderbilt, WUSTL, Rice, Emory, and Carnegie Mellon

I was in grad school in New Orleans right after Katrina hit, and the city was a shell of its former self but I still managed to have fun.

Holy shite! The Deluge of Delusion is strong with those people!!
Tulane isn't even as prestigious a school as the University of Alabama and U. of Georgia.
