Icon-wise Spud McConnell takes a dump on all those guys.
RIP Ronnie Virgets. I didn't know him well but I always liked him.

Other than Mousey, a bunch of obnoxious guys that like to hear themselves talk. Not real New Orleans characters.
None of them could hold a candle to Frank Davis or Ronnie Virgets.

Don't know Mousey Chiasson, so maybe him. The rest of those names? Pffffffffffffft. Tommy Tucker? For real???
Tom Fitzmorris is into dementia, sad to say.
Kaare? in his WILDEST dreams.
There are few left as we slowly homogenize due to radio and television, as well as leaving our neighborhoods while people shite on us about our accents and whatever else.
The days of damned good writers making the jump to radio and TV are long gone, and the days of people accepting a local accent are nearly gone, as well. There may be characters left in New Orleans, but few in New Orleans media.
Spud McConnell is an actor, and good at what he does. Buddy, Hap Glaudi, Frank Davis, and Ronnie Virgets were genuine as themselves, despite any accents or speech deficiencies, you knew from their writings that they were creative and at-home with the English language even if they could not so effectively get it past their lips.
I don't much like national media types, but other than Spud, maybe John Larroquette? I would say Jay Thomas would be a worthy heir, but he died two years ago.
Kevin Belton has assumed his place, sort of, in the food media, along with John Folse, but they are not nearly mainstream in local media across all platforms.

Not necessary to make such a comparison.Ronnie Virgets was a thoroughly New Orleans character, and laudable in his own right, regardless of the status of anyone else.

Hap Glaudi for the win

Frank Davis, since he's the one that was the most popular when i was a kid/growing up, will always be the one i remember...

Wut? He seems like a good dude. If he was good enough for Dan Connor then he's good enough for me.

Real talk: How many women does Tommy Tucker have to stay away from via court order around the station? Is it just Karen Swenson or are there others?
