Admittedly it is the black car and the SUV. I thought that was supposed to be better than nothing.

It's not about smoking you idiot. I agree with you that smoking is gross. Set aside your selfish views on smoking and look at what is really happening.

True. Smoke belongs outside. No use in arguing against it.

Right. I'm the one doing that. "It scares me" "I thought this was America" "Yay nanny state"

Mmhmm. I'm the guy throwing the tantrum.

Deal with it, boys.

I'm sorta torn on this issue

yea, it sucks when gov't tells private businesses what to do. But gov'ts from every level tell private businesses what to do about a lot of things and people don't get that upset about them.

I think the people melting about this are being just as emotional/irrational

If you operate a business within a city where the overwhelming population doesn't want smoking inside, I just can't see a reason to get all upset.

They are. Lotta "Cold dead hands" people who can't pick their battles for the life of them.

I don't smoke and I look down on smokers, but I don't support bans where others can easily exercise a choice to leave.

The one thing that should be passed is a huge fine and public flogging for those smoking assholes that flick the butts out of the car window. There are times I wish I was a cop when I see that. I'd love to pull those trashy fricks over and be a dick cop. Irrational, I know.

like some have already said in this thread, the bars were already shifting to go smoke free on their own

the government doesn't need to make a wide sweeping ban, the smart bars will cater to the market on their own

today? no you didn't. i just looked at all your posts in this subject today.

lying is the height of intellectual dishonesty

you've done nothing in this thread today except post emotional-irrational responses that have devolved into 3 year old temper tantrums

This is why I'm fine with any smoking ban there is. Smokers by and large are the most inconsiderate and dirty population there is. They litter constantly. They're getting what they asked for. Outside with the gutter punks, boys.

this move is the definition of a nanny state and an attack on property rights

really?

there is a large difference between a bar choosing to go smoke free on their own and a bar being forced to go smoke free by the government

this debate has nothing to do with smoking and smokers

I'm sorry you are too dumb to realize this

now they pretty much do. the satiation point was a while back and the tide is turning. Bush's presidency was the turning point

quote:

I think the people melting about this are being just as emotional/irrational

how? we all understand there are regulations. we don't agree with most of those, either, and adding ANOTHER one doesn't justify the old ones

the argument that "well the other regulations exist, so you have to support this" argument is without merit, especially since most people arguing property rights don't agree with the vast majority of THOSE regs, either

quote:

If you operate a business within a city where the overwhelming population doesn't want smoking inside, I just can't see a reason to get all upset.

if the "overwhelming" population doesn't want smoke, then why aren't smooke-free bars dominating the market?
