well then, i really fail to see the reason to melt so hard, other than being so blindly "AGAINST GOV'T, GRR"

because choice has been removed from the market and one side is using government as a cheat code

crony capitalism is bad

removing choice is bad

Deal with it. Outside.

Right. It's emotional, irrational people who can't wait to cry "cold dead hands" anytime the government does anything. "It scares me."

I don't necessarily look at this as an undercurrent of what's to come in the gov't versus private business debate

I see it more as ANOTHER step in a long series to steps to essentially completely eradicate tobacco smoke from the human population in America

As I said, I'm torn. But I'm not upset. I live in a city with a strict smoking ban

I don't smoke but smoking is legal and government shouldn't have the authority to ban smoking in PRIVATE businesses/property.

huh?

being for property rights is not emotional or irrational. property rights are the foundation for western society, even before other rights like the right to free speech and a free press. modern society begins by given man domain over his own property, and allowing free humans to make voluntary exchanges with each other using their property.

what people do with their property is of no concern to me, especially if it doesn't directly affect me

You are yet to make a non-emotional rational point in this thread.

They are. They just have to follow certain rules if you want to serve food or beverages as a means of commerce on that private property. Not new.

why? it's an extension of that very argument

then just ban it like we do weed. this is an inefficient means to that end. that means added transaction costs and inefficient government

One day they came for the smokers and I did not care because I was not a smoker.
