If i was allowed i would show the 'progress of fixing a baggage claim belt' with MSY. my sleeping meds are kicking in so this is probably my last post tonight.... but realize that MSY forced contract people out (well they let their contracts run out yet they were people who actually did stuff) and hired guv'ment employees who are pretty worthless.
You sound like you’ve got an agenda.

I’m very impressed with the airport. It’s gorgeous. The food and drink options are second to none and the service was shockingly really good.

My Friday night arrival review-
Pulled up at gate at about 9:20 pm. There was no jet bridge workers at the gate. The pilots radio’d for assistance and they came about 12 minutes after parking. Got in the airport and loved the sights and sounds. Very nice. Many places were starting to close up but many were still functioning. The only thing that I was puzzled about was the main post-security “glassed-in” area was not open and spacious like I thought it would be. Walking from the security areas to the gates had a closed-in “tunnel like” feel.
Anyway, once we got down to baggage claim, we only waited about 3 minutes before the conveyors started. Got luggage real quick.
Shuttles to parking. Omg. Walked out the front doors where the “shuttle” signs pointed and across the road into the garage and realized somethings not right. Walked back inside and asked someone where to go for US Park. She said the doors on the other side. Ok, I go out those doors, still no signs designating where to go. I called US park and they said go out door 3 and wait by pole B5. Again, no labels of what is what other than door numbers and zone numbers. Waited 15 minutes and then got picked up.
Outflow traffic - total CF. Stop and go for 15 minutes just to get to veterans. Total of 40 minutes between walking out airport doors to getting in my truck.
I’m concerned that the outbound traffic and shuttle parking won’t get much better. Parking in the veterans lot seems like it would help. I asked the driver if this was just an anomaly and he said no, he has already seen bottlenecks, accidents, and even taxi drivers getting out their vehicles fighting each other due to the road rage.

So what did your boyfriend think of the airport?

No agenda. I just had 17/18 years working for an airline (and in a few more modern ones). MSY needed a new airport. If I remember correctly the international process should be better and I hope leads to more international flights.
The workers 'behind the scene' were thrilled about getting a new airport (besides the parking) until the first 'tour' was given and simple security issues (that would fall directly on the AIRLINE and not AIRPORT could not be answered.

No it means I work for an airline and after hearing what the new airport 'offered workers' i knew what a massive cluster this would be.
I asked the tug question because people were acting as if they knew how the job operated. Acted as if they just 'knew'.... so i asked some very basic things.

Arrived on United around 7pm last night. I also had a minor jet bridge issue, we pulled up and the captain announced several times that the jet bridge operator did not know what he was doing. Took a while to get it lined up. This is the sort of thing that should be fixable, and soon.
Like everyone else said, the concourses look great. So glad we finally have a real airport. I never check bags so no issue there.
I fortunately had a ride picking me up, but the Uber/Lyft and Taxi lines looked pretty miserable. They gotta figure this out, ASAP.
Egress was fine. The old airport used to get very congested around the stop light when exiting the parking garage, so this was an improvement in that respect. But it definitely took longer to get on I-10.
All in all, I am happy and didn't see anything that can't be figured out.

Big complaint im hearing is the arrivals area isn't covered like it was before. So in rain or extreme heat your screwed.

Not a fan of the Uber pin thing, airport is really really nice though

Airport looks great.
Long term parking pricey at 20/day.
Signs are clear to follow.
Had no traffic getting in or out of airport besides one red light cycle on veterans.
15 min to get through security, line was constantly moving.
Food options and atmosphere are top notch.
Lots of seating with cup holders, power plugs and usb plugs.

Have been twice. Lost my luggage once. The other time it took 3 light cycles to get through vets. Still had little bottles of dial soap in bathrooms as of late january
