Just got back from driving around a bit. Looped a few times and passed by arrivals and departures. Traffic issues and possible operational/logistic issues aside, it looks great. I expected it to look less finished, but I guess the delays meant more time for lighting, striping, landscaping and general clean-up and refinement. Signage is good and it’s easy to navigate. I’m flying out in a few days and plan to build in time in case of traffic delays, but I also want time to check the place out. I have been as cynical as anyone, but it looks pretty nice up close.

Can attest. It is a cluster frick.

I feel bad for the employees - they have no idea what is going on either. Lots of pissed off people trying to get to the parking at the old terminal and they only have shuttles going to the rental car facility running right now.

I’d expect as much the first hour of operation. That’s why I qualified it. The first hour of operation for a new Wendy’s franchise is a cluster. Big picture, the airport and surrounding areas look pretty good.

I can understand that, but they are still putting a lot of things together. They didn’t even have working soap dispensers in the bathrooms - just a bottle of watered down softsoap sitting on the counter.

It’s a beautiful airport and I’m happy for NOLA. I fly back out early December and will be looking forward to seeing them get some kinks worked out.

ETA: a lady on our shuttle was traveling here for work, she asked why people were still putting together chairs. Haha. It will be great when it’s all done. The roads in and out are a definitely a cluster.

Is the new terminal smaller than the old one?
Google map shows less gates

Why?

The newness will be shocking, the logistical nightmare and general ambivalence of the employees should jolt you back to feeling at home in short order.

I will say it’ll be weird for me too. I’ve spent more time in C/D there than I’d care to admit. I always like the atrium in D.

The airport just released a public statement that anyone flying out tomorrow should arrive AT LEAST 3 hours ahead of departure.

With that delay, someone flying to a close location like Houston should just drive to the destination and skip the airport.

Sounds good, it sounds as if all those doomcasters could be wrong.

But can’t speak too soon if this will be disaster most people are predicting.

That one lane Loyola exit off I-10W will be a CF.

This morning I saw taxis, shuttle buses and cars all jockeying for the same departure curb side drop off spots
