Simmesport is a skin tag in the armpit.

Alexandria is the shittiest city in arguably the shittiest state in the country.

No amount of money would be worth living there.

You don't get out much, do you? You think New Orleans is some kind of paradise? What a maroon

I was just there for my grandmother's funeral. I never lived there, but parents grew up in Pineville/Deville. It's amazing to see a town dying right before your eyes. All that's left is the creosote plant and P&G, no?

Well since this post is about an expansion by Crest, and since they probably employ more people than either the creosote plant or P&G, you should at least add them to your list.

I've lived here for the last 5-6 years and it truly is a dying , ghetto shithole.

Good!

Alexandria is IMO a depressing town, but I'm rooting for it to improve. More jobs to help draw people to the area would certainly help!

All of the ring levee towns are pretty rough.

Melville, Krot Springs, Simmsport, etc.

Two shittiest cities.

One is loaded with things to do and redeeming qualities. The other one is Alexandria.

Crest.

And I think there's a tank car manufacturing plant out there somewhere.

in or near the Alexandria area

NO! to living in the city of Alexandria.
I live 15 miles south and love it but I'm sure country living and the inconveniences that go with that aren't for everyone. I'm more than will to put up with a few "inconveniences" to live where I live. To each their own.

I wasn't going to go there, but yea, anyone form the area knows what I meant.

You also have the Calvary Baptist network click as well. If you are not influential with either of those groups, you are not "networked" well.

Lol, yeah. New Orleans is so much fun these days. You couldn't pay me enough to live there, ever.

Redeeming qualities

There are far worse. Numerous examples have been cited already.

I’ve never understood why Ellick doesn’t have any plants/refineries when they are located right on the river

The river is technically navigable but not big enough to carry the volume of traffic that would make heavy industry feasible. Red River navigation was a pipe dream of J. Bennett Johnston. Since he was Chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, he got what he wanted, but it has never paid for itself.

And the plan is navigation to Texarkana!! Completely destroying the remainder of the Red River - but for BASS.
