But then you'd have to live in or near the Alexandria area.

Great news for the area.

But one company coming in and creating 250+ new jobs is a drop in the bucket.

That place has many problems. But this is a start.

I never understand why people bash things like this. The area needs new jobs they get a few hundred and people laugh. I am sure the local economy is happy as are a few hundred people in Cenla.

So is this going to be like a mini chemical plant or something?

I’ve never understood why Ellick doesn’t have any plants/refineries when they are located right on the river

If CENLA is the armpit then New Orleans is the gangrenous butthole that needs to be removed from the body.

The city doesn't really do anything IMO to attract new businesses to the area. Also, like many towns in Louisiana, there is the good ole boy network that is always looking for it's back scratch, which turns away possible businesses.

The fact that a major interstate and a very busy railroad runs through town and Alexandria hasn't boomed from that yet should tell you something. They don't leverage that to bring in new opportunities.

The current state of affairs with the high crime rate and not enough police to ensure law and order doesn't make things attractive either. Really the only new businesses that usually open up in Alexandria are either chain restaurants or some new company from an already established local. There really is no new blood coming into town bringing in new jobs and lifting up the economy.

I think many are just jealous because the interstate doesn't get down to one lane in Alex In all seriousness, we all know Alex has its problems but its not like it tries to be a metropolis or anything, everyone there seems to be content with the small time vibe.
