My wife and I were travelling down 90 a few years ago and decided to stop for a quick bit at a Ruby Tuesday in New Iberia (hadn't been to one since we went to LSU in the 90s). Everyone seemed to be staring at us like they were trying to figure out who's our mama and if we were from there.
There were at least three different guys there (non-peak time) that had the haircut. I'm guessing that there are many white guys from Breaux Bridge, Cecilia, Erath, Abbeville, etc. that also rock the New Iberia haircut.

Everyone I know who has this haircut is either a cop, a fireman, or has to wear a hardhat to work every day (plant operator, oil field baw, construction worker, etc).

Why is it that white guys who want to be black get that same haircut and sport the chinstrap beard? Almost every white trash baw I see has this same look. Can they not diversify their style?

It's a small town Acadiana thing. There are plenty of roustabouts(former) and shop hands from Duson, Scott, St. Martinville, etc. who rock the NIH on Saturday nights at City Bar.
