Astronomers using the ultraviolet vision of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope have captured one of the largest panoramic views of the fire and fury of star birth in the distant universe. The field features approximately 15,000 galaxies, about 12,000 of which are forming stars. Hubble’s ultraviolet vision opens a new window on the evolving universe, tracking the birth of stars over the last 11 billion years back to the cosmos’ busiest star-forming period, which happened about 3 billion years after the big bang.
Ultraviolet light has been the missing piece to the cosmic puzzle. Now, combined with infrared and visible-light data from Hubble and other space and ground-based telescopes, astronomers have assembled one of the most comprehensive portraits yet of the universe’s evolutionary history
..
This mosaic is 14 times the area of the Hubble Ultra Violet Ultra Deep Field released in 2014.

There are an estimated 100 to 200 billion planets in the milky way.
The milky way is just one galaxy. The estimated number of galaxies is 200 billion to 2 trillion.
Galaxies range from dwarf (a few hundred million stars) to giants (a hundred trillion stars)
There is absolutely no way possible we are alone in the universe.

Anyone else hear jumping jack fireworks in your head whenever you see photos like this?

Agreed. But I think there’s no way possible to find out. Space is just too vast. We’re seeing all of this and even this picture isn’t even scratching the surface. That’s just what we can see. What about beyond that?
Blows my mind.

That's all nice and all Dave, but does it really make a frick?? What good does it do for us? Nothing, that's what.

The cluster on the top left looks gentrified...think I'll move there.

All this shite is fake.

Expanding our knowledge of the universe we live in. Does it have practical applications in your day to day life? No. Part of being a conscious human being is having a curiosity about the more lofty ideas as well, we like to explore, this is certainly exploring.

I think SETI has the right idea. If we are going to find them our best bet currently is radio. I’m sure more discoveries will open up other avenues to explore, but I definitely don’t think it’s impossible (just really hard).

Weird how God created all that stuff for no reason.

Weird how it isn't mentioned either.

At the very bottom left you can see a good example of gravitational lensing.

Jesus said he had other flocks. Pretty obvious he meant aliens, and not just the kind who are named after him.

Thanks DavidtheGnome, I always find this stuff fascinating.
In addition to my fascination with these types of posts is the amount of down votes they get. I mean, it makes sense to see them here, being a Louisiana board, all the god fearers who hate outer space, science, and mind blowing evidence. *cough, flat earthers too, cough*
It's almost as bad as the fat chick hating here. We know that none of the down voters would really say no to a 34 double G woman crawling up their hard leg.
