Hegseth has degrees from Princeton and Harvard. He was valedictorian of high school.

Actually, yeah. I do. And so should you. Running a national-level agency requires a great deal of understanding of federal law, regulations and bureaucratic navigation. As much as the country hates the government and its apparatus for management, for the most part it works. There's a reason why we're not Haiti or Cuba and people risk their lives to come over here. At every federal agency there is bloat and waste and red tape. But there's also a hyper competent cadre of career-based subject matter experts that make the government function.
I certainly don't want want a random artillery officer with zero emergency management background running FEMA.

Exactly. The Democrats put Pete Buttigieg in office because he was gay. And look at the disaster that unfolded. Put qualified, competent people over our government agencies - don't select them because they suck a mean dick or because they served in Iraq in the artillery or because they won't push back against the President and offer their own opinion.
