The state, often in the crosshairs of increasingly powerful hurricanes, has received nearly $47 billion for 28 disasters since 2003, cash that is used for everything from debris removal and sewer line repairs to temporary housing for residents displaced by storms

Since 2021, nearly half a million Louisiana households have applied for FEMA funds.

That is pretty incredible that half a million residents of the state applied to get funds from FEMA.

Now that's an impressive flex.

Most organizations promote from within, with a keen eye towards someone loyal to the mission, and a clear understanding of goals.
The Nazis didn't invent that.

Read a history book about our own (very successful) military.

You didn't read, or likely just didn't understand my comment.

Ok

quote:

with a keen eye towards someone loyal to the mission,

I didn't mention a mission, I mentioned a person and ideology

quote:

and a clear understanding of goals.

Because of Hitler's paranoia and mania, especially toward the end, the Nazis goals would waffle back and forth almost daily. Trump makes one policy decision today and then does the complete opposite tomorrow. So in both cases there isn't a clear understanding of goals.

quote:

The Nazis didn't invent that.

And I even said in a separate comment that dysfunctions like these happen in many types of organizations.

quote:

Read a history book

The ones that tell us, over and over again, that the Nazis doomed themselves because of the things I laid out? Later in the war the head of the Luftwaffe basically had no air force experience, he was just a guy loyal to Hitler

quote:

Read a history book about our own (very successful) military.

Our military and country has been successful because it has been a meritocracy. You weren't just born onto a throne. You weren't just given a title and lands with serfs to work them because of who you know.

The Trump admin largely has gone away from being a meritocracy.

The one legitimate comparison I think you can make between Trump and the Nazis is that the Nazis promoted people based on their loyalty to Hitler and to the ideology, and since they promoted based on that instead of actual competence they gradually became more and more dysfunctional.. sounds pretty familiar, right?

In his first term. IIRC, he did keep a few holdovers from the previous administration.

If I'm in his position I'll put people in place to carry out the agenda I was elected on. Obviously, they should be competent.

And, I see your point re: our military, but it has been very successful appointing and promoting people loyal to an ideology/mission/goals.

I think comparing Trump to Hilter is ludicrous; he only wants to take over Canada.

Yeah that is fine. I think there is a difference between "This guy is nice to me so I'm going to give him a job" and "This guy thinks the same way I do AND is qualified to do X position, so I'm going to give him X Position". Trump has tended more toward the former at times during this admin.

I do too, and even said my comparison is the only legitimate one that I see. And its a comparison that isn't even unique to HItler and the Nazis. You can come up with dozens of historical examples that work just as well.

Ah yes, Reddit. Another group that constantly fights the imaginary Nazis by banning and censoring anyone they don't agree with, while openly calling for violence against those same people.

Amazing, isn't it?

We get an article like this about FEMA after what we know FEMA was doing the past four years, which was purposely NOT assisting people based on political ideology (like the Nazis would do), while also funneling their funding to illegals instead of Americans hurt by natural disasters.

It is funny watching the moderates flock to an article like this while ignoring what FEMA was just a few months ago. The prior leadership openly stated, and also bragged about screwing over Americans while being totally corrupt. Yet a hearsay quote from some "sauce" gets the groomer brigade all riled up.

Based on what? The MSM telling you his people aren't qualified? They loved mayor Pete and all the freaks Biden put in, who cares what they say?

Based on experience alone Hegseth was like promoting an assistant manager of Walmart to be the CEO. Now granted I like some of his initiatives, but I don't think he is fit to run the defense department, much less know enough to bring it to heel budget wise like it needs to be.

There were people far more qualified than Kash Patel and Pam Bondi. They got their positions because of their loyalty (and sucking up) to Trump. We've already seen both of them be inept with things like the Epstein files.

Bessent is really smart, but the best case you can say for him is that he profiteered off economic misfortune and at worst manipulated currency markets for profit. And he worked for Soros, which should be a red flag IMO.

Lutnick is a finance guy but he seems to be more Trump hype man than actually promoting and advancing US commerce.

Kristi Noem... how much homeland security experience are you getting as Governor of South Dakota? Thats not even a border state Yet another loyalty pick

RFK is a pretty controversial pick. I like some things he is doing, dislike others.

Some of the other picks range from fine to pretty good. Tulsi is great.

I don't care what they say, I look at people's qualifications myself and decide. Wild concept, no doubt.

Mayor Pete was an unqualified buffoon and the reason transportation was in such a mess when Trump took office was because of him.
