ditch the car and got out of there.

You have to understand that that was a dangerous choice. That's a long way down walking on ice. You could easily fall and bust your head open and there was no way to get an ambulance up there.

I saw people posting about people leaving their cars and I couldn't believe it. Like you said, that sounds better on paper than I imagine it was to do IRL.

So they are going to use our tax dollars to build it and then charge us to cross it? Got it

Not to belittle the conversation, but this bridge in Orange iced or snowed over would make an excellent ski slope in the south.

Getting up there maybe a challenge.

They had another post about it a few days ago but figured I’d put some details in a new thread. Jeff Landry announced the contract on the new Calcasieu River Bridge

Oh, so they really did just "kill" it in a purely political play so they could steal a win for Landry.

JBE is probably gritting his teeth that he couldn't take credit for it.

This is ironic given the state Repugnicants killed it specifically to steal credit for it.

Honest question, did anyone just get out and walk away?

Not sure how many walked away but there was a jumper.

Did not know that at the time. Was that on the east bound side? I was on the west bound bound span.

No bridge on a main Interstate highway should ever have a toll. Put that on spurs and loops, or for express lanes, but never a main route.

I guess it depends on your choices. One was a dangerous downhill long walk on ice. The other could be a medical emergency or maybe your not prepared and freezing.

I was in great shape. I had a nearly full tank, layers of clothes, food, water, and an empty 2 liter soda bottle.

And because I had planned on doing some target shooting that weekend, I happened to have a rifle with me.

So, I was in a very strong position.
