and they are laying off a lot of them

Fast-food minimum wage goes from $15 per hour to $20 on April 1
Thousands of workers have been let go; others have hours reduced
Owners object to being singled out by the new California law

In next year's news, minimum wage earners in California complain about the cost of basic items like groceries or Happy Meals.

If I were him I believe I would accept that challenge. Cause I just don't believe it.

He strikes me as someone who probably makes a lot of money by most standards but is not very good with money. Probably has lots of debt and student loans.

I have an old buddy from high school days, we worked at a grocery store through high school. He is a manager for HyVee now. They went to automated checkouts. We were bullshitting and I asked him how many high schoolers work there now. We had about 80-90 back in the day. He said 20 or so, I asked him where do these 16-year-old kids go to learn a work ethic and how to earn a paycheck? I said seems to me I would be hiring more seasoned employees. He said that's what they have done, you come in and apply as a 16 year old we don't even look at your app, you have nothing to bring to the table.

How confident are we that Republican Party will reduce inflation?Posted on 1/3/24 at 11:58 am
up vote1down vote15

I paid $15 for a chipotle burrito w guacamole and this is unacceptable. I also have doubts that republicans will reduce inflation but maybe you know better than me.

Not talking about you older baws who own a house and have assets already. I’m talking between ages 27-35. What’s going on? As younger part of the work force we get paid less and rent is going up. Dont have time due to work and commute, cant save because inflation, unemployment, bills, what we doing?

60% of post tax going to rent on average, damn.

For older baws who say coffee avocados etc, lol.

Also kids are a pipe dream at this point

So you think everyone who works at fast food is a squatter? Those people make up less than .1%.

Cost of living?? Most people would rather live off $12/hr than not having a job at all at $20 which is what is going to happen.

More gems from the Econ major.

Just moved for a job and realize I didn’t buy any tools. Based on what my immediate needs are here is the Mount Rushmore

1. Screw driver
2. Hammer
3. Wrench
4. Leveler

Increasing taxes can hire more police force and give incentive for big businesses to invest in NO again. Is that the solution? Would you support it?

If we had to choose a country that fit the policies closest, what would the most Conservative Party country be?

I’m thinking Saudi Arabia

For democrats, Finland

With most of the OT experiencing traumatic experiences with women (including me) and now these hos thinking they are better than the hard men who built the very ground they walk on, maybe it’s time to shift the perception away from marriage. Christian family values don’t work when capitalism is king

There are forums full of people who receive food stamps selling then for 50 cents on the dollar. Is it trashy to buy $500 worth (1k value) and shop bulk groceries? I feel this is the life hack to saving money

Need to move my parents out to their new home but don’t wanna pay the insane mover prices. Used to be that a $50 and a 12 pack can hire some Mexican folks at Home Depot but inflation probably kicked in. Anyone do this recently?
