Ok so my neighbor has basically abandoned his home since the hurricane. He will come by maybe every 2 weeks check his mail and leave within 5 minutes. His yard has become a jungle. Grass was several feet high and just looks like shite in general. Me and another neighbor decided to just cut the dudes grass. (Ps dude is also a piece of shite and was completely rude to me the one and only time we met.)

Did we do the right thing or should we have left his shitty yard be?

Should have called code enforcement so he could get a nice fine and learn to keep his yard up.

Chances are his home will go into foreclosure eventually like a lot of the ones people abandoned here in LC.

Are their no ordinances in your town that would mandate that he cut his grass?

I would cut it if it is not a big job. However this time of year snakes are coming out of hibernation so beware.

I called ascension parish office to talk about how it’s basically a safety hazard to have an abandoned house. They have yet to get back with me

So the neighbor gets displaced by IDA and your upset his lawn looks messy.

Sounds like your typical Christian.

Take a bat to his mailbox and burn down the house. That’ll show him.

If he's a piece of shite, no you don't mow his lawn. Report it to whomever has any authority in the matter.

If the guy was a good dude, then this probably wouldn't be a situation, but if he was a good dude just going through a tough time then yeah help out.

Because there are tons of abandoned houses in every parish and there is nothing they can do about it outside of enforcing any local codes on the books. What do you want them to do? Take the house from the guy? Make him occupy it?

He for some reason actually cares. He would yell at me for cutting an inch into his shite yard when he lived there. He is a real piece of shite

Contact the tax assessor as find out if a bank has a lien or mortgage on it. Contact them and make a complaint.
