As far as instruction. Take a one or two day lesson and you will learn the basics. Vail and beaver creek have learning hills. Very short and gentle. Once you have a two day lesson and learn the basics, you can spend a couple of days on the beginner hills and after a few days will be able to ski the green slopes

Def buy the boots. They are the best purchase you can make. Don't go cheap either. You'll regret it quickly if you do.
I don't know his name, but at Breckinridge there's a guy who teaches ski school who used to teach the army cadets at West Point how to ski. Dude was the fricking tits. I'd bet he's still there kicking it. You should call and see if you can find him. Highly recommended

I'm gonna get the epic pass next year when I am more advanced.
There is a military discount for unlimited at Keystone and A-Basin for only $200 - hence why that's where we are headed.
Maybe later in the season we will get some weekend passes at a different spot.

Steamboat is good for learners as well. You can get your own instructor and it's big enough of a mountain to see all different kinds of runs.
Another great place is loveland. Its right on the continental divide and lift tickets are about 55 bucks.

Get a decent pair of boots. Get fitted for them by a professional. A major mistake by many beginner skiers is the boots do not fit correctly.
Get about two days of lessons. You will learn the basics. Then you go to a beginner slope and work on the basics yourself. Once you advance go to a green slope and work on it. Don't do to much to quick. Skiing is not too hard. But if you try to run the difficult runs before you are ready it's generally not much fun.

Didn't grow up an OT Baller so a Cabin in Crested Butte is what we always did and we had a blast every time we went.

Hope you can go during the week because traffic on 70 on weekends is bullshite. I expect this year to be epic because I am not renewing my pass. The last couple years have sucked and I've had enough of that traffic to ride dust on crust, so with me not going I expect limitless powder days.
You should buy a Mtn bike, Denver stays warm enough to ride year round.

Crested Butte is amazing place!! We have been there for the last few Christmas, doing Winter Park this Christmas, love the lil town of Crested Butte
