Right now I'd buy a low mileage used Tacoma. Toyota, has a great long term reputation, but they are dealing with some teething issues with their new turbo engines. There have been several recalls and new one just dropped last month recalling 100k+ vehicles.
Currently the Tundra 3.5 turbo costs over $30k to have replaced if you're out of warranty. I'd give the Toyota turbos a few years until they can work things out.

I have a ‘22 Frontier and have been very pleased with it so far. I do have the technology package and it includes nearly every option you would want. I guess it has a slightly tighter turning radius, but it doesn’t bother me. It’s very comfortable to me and is easy to drive once you adjust.

Buy the Taco, but wait. 2024's have transmission issues that need to be sorted out.

Is my next car. Might even get a used 2024 one, I like the look so much.

I’m getting a 2025 Frontier Pro4X
Was gonna get one this month and before I did Nissan released the changes for the 2025 model. Gonna wait until they put them on the lot.

People trashing the Nissan here but the Frontier is one of the most dependable longest running vehicles ever created. The Toyota is also so I say a tossup between the two.

This is a pretty easy answer. Toyota if not towing anything. Nissan if towing something.

why are you stuck on these two
Well, I've had more Chevys than I can count...I never had any major problems with them, but little nit-picky stuff. If you read an earlier post of mine, I have had an issue with a GMC Canyon (transmission). I just have a feeling that Japanese trucks are a little bit better built than domestics. Not trying to start a war with that statement

I really don't need a larger domestic truck, my boat is small enough that any truck can tow it. And I'm sure my wife would strafe my arse if I bought something she had to climb into.

My Nissan 2013 Frontier got me to 215,000 miles with zero issues. I'll be getting a new model Frontier soon.

someone earlier mentioned the cheap feel inside the Toyota and I'll second that. If you go get in any Toyota and play with the buttons and things and then go sit in nearly any other brand with similar trim levels, the Toyota's plastics just feel cheaper. Plus, Toyota is catching hell internally right now with their transmission issues along with the twin turbo V6 fiasco.

I drove a 2015 Tacoma 4x4 for 9 years until this year. Great little truck but it had a few incredibly annoying issues.
The transmission would act weird going through gears, especially when making a right turn. It’s like it would get confused on what gear to go into.
On cold days, it had a nasty air leak somewhere either 9n the windshield or firewall that would howl at about 75 mph. It only did it when it was cold outside. Obviously a seal that was bad.
I hated the rear seat design. They just suck. The new ones are exactly the same. I guarantee you that you will hate them after the first time you try to fold them up to use it for cargo.

Last year my Brother bought a Nissan Fronier off road package. I have to admit that it’s a damned nice truck. I’ve driven it and I prefer it to the Tacoma that I had. Granted there’s a decade difference in build but the Taco hasn’t changed much.

I bought a 2023 Ram 1500 4x4 and love it. No regrets.

you will get a longer lasting and easily maintained truck with the Toyota. I drive a 2013 Tacoma.
A 4 cylinder turbo might change this...they haven't been out long enough to know for sure.
I have a 2022 Frontier...I like it...I had 35 bags of concrete in the back...it hauls my kayak/fishing stuff...lumber...pull a trailer occasionally.
It does truck stuff like one this size should.

Tacoma is built in Mexico.
Frontier is built in Mississippi by non-union baws and bawettes.

Are you talking new? If so go with whichever doesn't have a small turbo motor.

I work for Toyota and drive an older Tacoma. They are what they are....good!
The Frontier is a good truck.....probably the best thing Nissan makes. My only gripe is the steering feels heavy. I'd drive one!
