My Samsung dishwasher is no longer washing dishes. Mine is like this one, just a different color.

The bottom tub fills with water at the beginning of a cycle, but nothing happens afterwards. I ran it twice just thinking that I didn't rinse everything off well enough the first time and then I realized I had a problem and it wasn't working properly. The tub doesn't drain at the end of the cycle, though I never really notice if that's normal for it to drain at the end anyway. I have noticed however that at the beginning of the cycle that it drains.

So it fills, doesn't wash, and it drains. Google says I should replace the water inlet valve, but that doesn't seem right because I'm getting a flow into the washer.

Thoughts on whats wrong and needs to be done/replaced?

Whenever my dishwasher gives me issues, I just put it in her butt and she magically starts working fine.

The way I understand it, there are two pumps. One that cycles the water inside of the machine (does the washing) and another that drains the machine. Sounds like the first pump is bad. It also could be a switch or relay that turns the pump on too.

Good luck!

Try www.repairclinic.com. You may be able to diagnose it yourself.

Never knew there were 2 separate pumps. Did a little more digging and you're right. There's a drain pump (which is still working fine) and a circulation pump. I'll have to get a multimeter and check it out to see if it's truly the problem.

P.S. Thank God for YouTube and Google. Information is so readily available for us today. I'm going to be able to do this all on my own and that wouldn't be possible otherwise .

if there is a drain pump, and your machine is not draining at the end of the cycle, why would you think the drain pump is working fine?

That happened to mine one time and curiosity made me take out the mechanics on the bottom. Found a piece of glass wedged in there. Once I got the glass out and put everything back together the d/w worked fine.

It drains at the beginning of the cycle just fine. Like I said before, I never cared to discover exactly how my dishwasher, or any other for that matter, worked. So now I know the noise it makes at the beginning of every cycle (like it did before it stopped washing properly), was just any water left over being drained before it pumps more water in for a fresh cycle.

generally with this problem the issue is a limit switch if some kind, a float switch, a flood switch or a thermal fusen

This is possible too, post the model number off it has a diagnostic mode I'll post it and you can check the codes and pinpoint the issue.

Try to see if the pump has a sticker listing voltage.

Some are DC

Awesome. The model number is DW80J3020UB/AA.

I'll do this. I haven't taken it all apart yet though. It's a PITA to take apart everything to get to the motor. Didn't get time to do it today.
