Got a family member & his pregnant wife starting to sweat flooding concerns in the South Tulsa area near the Arkansas River. Knowing how bad we got it in 2016, he reached out for advice. We talked about having a few options for places to escape to higher ground, FEMA flood maps, moving irreplaceable items, getting critical documents, etc

Any message boards or other helpful links that you weather guys/Oklahomans have run across for that area?

I've gotten so spoiled to coming here to get great info & links when things get hairy around here.

Thanks!

According to the OT that's why the flooding wasn't forecast. But seriously, good luck to your friends. I hope they make it out with out any damage.

Hope you guys pull through, we had historic flooding in Nebraska earlier this year.

Doubt you'll get any media coverage either. They only give a damn when NYC gets hit by a halfassed hurricane then its wall to wall coverage

Arkansas River at Tulsa Gauge

They need to know what river gauge is relevant to their area. Since you said the Arkansas, the good news is they can keep the level steady by upping the release at Keystone Dam per the flood warning, having it level out at 21 feet.

I can't really offer more than that, not knowing the area well.

My lady is supposed to be driving from BR to Sand Springs on Tuesday. Is this going to be a bad idea? Her ailing parents are there and she's going to spend the week with them.

Might as well talk about the moon map. I live in Zone X. I went under 3 feet.

I would definitely move irreplaceable items and critical documents (INCLUDING insurance docs) up into the attic....NOW!

How close is due date?

She is at 38 weeks. It's a 2 story house so they are moving things up as we speak. I did sent him that river gauge site & said to keep an eye on it.

Latest local advisories are telling the area right up to about 3 blocks from their neighborhood to "prepare for moderate flooding"

Good luck to them. It is pretty rough here. People in Skiatook can’t get in our out. Arkansas River is creeping towards River Spirit Casino in Tulsa. Webber Falls, southeast of Tulsa has evacuated entire town.

All of our lakes are flooding. They’re having to release into the Arkansas. Local guys are saying this will be historic, in a very bad way.

The forecast for this evening calls for possibly more severe weather. Tornadoes suck, but this area cannot take more rain. I hope the storms don’t form this afternoon for water sake.
