If I won 100,000 from a scratch off I wouldn't be spending any of it on a helicopter I could put together myself.

Glad he didn’t kill anyone else in the process of “just figuring it out.” Sure just use trailer park logic as a substitute for actual knowledge and training in helicopter physics and operations.

According to his FB he has a filipina wife who's kind of hot. He also has a picture that might be inferred as claiming to be a Navy SEAL without actually saying it. Possible stolen valor? On my phone and to lazy to go through the rigamarole of linking. Somebody else can if they want to.

Dude said, “if I had a helicopter I wouldn’t choose to fly into a tree but he did. I can’t tell a man what to do with is property.”

Looked up the details, this apparently qualifies as an ultralight helicopter and doesn't require a license to fly. It still requires the ability to fly a helicopter though, which is not intuitive at all.

Less expensive than most cars, too.

Correct.

If you try to fly one drunk you won't make it home anyway.

There are a lot cheaper ways to kill yourself than that.

The neighbor didn't seem to be particularly surprised.

The would-be helicopter pilot is probably a known jackass.

How about buy a new truck, some land, pay off bills, or just invest it in low risk bonds or annuities? Dude, you’re old. But I guess that’s proof that older doesn’t always mean wiser.
