Navy recommends reinstating CAPT Crozier, Joint Chiefs not sure

The CNO, Adm. Gilday, and the new acting SECNAV want to reinstate Crozier. Gen. Milley isn't yet sold, but isn't ruling it out either, he wants a deeper investigation.
It really seems like Modley acted on his own, which was his right to do as SECNAV, but it really seems in retrospect like it was a hasty, and perhaps poor, decision.

Milley was my Division and Corps commander when I was in. He’s a no nonsense dude. Hopefully he does not reinstate. Crozier was a complete melting idiot with what he did.

If he personally leaked the letter then he should be dismissed. Anything short of that and I don’t think he should have lost his job.

You can when that chain of command repeatedly refuses to respond to a developing crisis. What was he supposed to tell his guys? "Sorry y'all, POTUS thinks this is all a hoax so they want us just to sit here and get sick."? He did the right thing and his sailors loudly cheering for him as he was relieved of his command should tell you everything you need to know about the situation.

Being a commander is not a popularity contest. He was trying to be the populist commander when in reality he gave our adversaries information that is potentially lethal.

So if he is reinstated and then he is ordered to deploy to enemy territory and stand by for further instructions, but he decides he doesn't want to put his men in harms way, that'll be ok? I'm sure he will be cheered by his men once again for having their best interest at heart. Yeah, that's how the military works.

Why would he send it to anyone other than his immediate superior? This is called commander to commander dialogue. He didn’t like what he heard so he subverted the chain of command. When you are entrusted with a nuclear powered aircraft carrier lapses in judgment can not be tolerated neither can blatant disregard for the chain of command. I would charge him with conduct prejudicial to good Order and discipline and conduct unbecoming if it was me.

If Crozier gets reinstated they better know exactly who leaked it (other than him). Otherwise, the USN shouldn't be trusted with anything important, muchless nuclear power and weapons.

I'm guessing he did and he didn't like the answer.
Perhaps that was a lapse in judgement, but that's, to me, not as bad as leaking it outside the Navy.

He knew it would be leaked.
Your aircraft carrier being essentially disabled should be classified information....

He did not send the email to 30 people. It was to 3 Admirals and 7 other Captains who are in his peer group...
