Springfield, MO has 3 or 4 of them now and they have improved traffic flow at congested intersections amazingly well. They are a great modification to a traditional overpass exit when there is not room for a cloverleaf. It's a little odd at first, but if you aren't retarded or drunk it's pretty easy to navigate through one.

It's only dumb if youre too stupid to follow the road to drive it properly.

Kinda like a roundabout. Its darwinism for driving. If the roads are too complicated for you to drive, you probably shouldnt be driving.

More efficient because there are no signalized left turns.

and there's the critical flaw in placing any of these in Louisiana. I can't wait until the simple roundabouts popup all over the city of Walker. Drivers will either simply plow into each other or stand still for hours dumbfounded. I can't wait to see which comes first.

There are roundabouts all over La doing just fine

The walker folks will catch on pretty quickly.

I worry about the truck traffic and turn radius issues

I've heard some bad stories about the ones in Hammond but haven't been that way in a long time.

Never seen one before but based on that graphic it appears obvious that the purpose is to avoid Southbound traffic from having to cross the Westbound lanes in order to merge onto the Eastbound lane (or vice versa). It also seems to require only two major lighted intersections stopping traffic on 120 as opposed to four.

It's to avoid creating the costly clover leaf you see on typical exits.

I noticed this immediately

It's basically a safer and more efficient way to move cars through an interchange. It is also not nearly as expensive as other types non-standard interchanges, making it more attractive for DOTs. Expect to see these popping up in many cities across the US.

Same for Atlanta (Dunwoody really). Works well at a really congested spot.

Eliminate left turn signals from the traffic light cycle.

Single Point Interchange is better, but more expensive. Both are much better than a typical diamond.

Most efficient design I've seen. The one near my house handles traffic off the interstate better than any other in the area.

It's funny that they had to make a diagram to explain how to navigate this.

What a surprise, someone from Louisiana is ignorant to efficient road traffic management
