Last year a relative was released from the hospital at 10 PM with a prescription she needed right away. The pharmacist, a family friend, met us at his store to fill the prescription.
No I get the pharmacy deal. My question is why only deal with local businesses? National chains bring options and jobs to a community. If it is a franchise, chances are it is owned by a local and staffed with locals.

Try getting pills somewhere out of town when your prescription has auto-filled in town already. Doesn't work with CVS or Walgreens without a fight

CVS has to be the most Godawful job.
When you look back in the pharmacy section everyone either has the blank stare of drowning or like they're on the verge of tears. Also notice if you see any stools or chairs? You should not! That is by design. You fricking sit on your break. They aren't given chairs. A prescription filling sweat shop. Like the actual sweat shop the pills were manufactured in.

I use local and I love them! The only issue I have is that they are closed on Sunday. Has only been an issue if the kids need antibiotics for an ear ache and we went to the doctor during Sunday hours. In that case we use a grocery store pharmacy.
According to a pharmacist friend, the hierarchy of pharmacies are: locally owned, grocery store, warehouse stores, big box stores, national drug stores. She was talking mainly from the pharmacist and techs' perspective but she said the places like CVS has such an incredible volume and so many tight metrics they are required to meet that personalized service goes out the door. There just isn't time.

I use a CVS right by my work and I like it. My prescription is on auto refill and I get a text every month when it's ready. I either pick it up on a Sunday morning or over lunch, and hardly wait.
Only issue I've had is once they didn't have a medication I needed. They said they'd have it ordered and it'd be there the next day. I needed it that day and went to a neighborhood Walmart. Gave them my prescription and it was ready about 10 minutes later.

Thanks for all the comments.
Why am I tired of the chains? Because most times I leave one I want to slit my wrist with a butter knife. Customer service is horrible.
Waited 45 minutes (they had said 20-25) earlier this week and witnessed 3 instances of staff not giving a shite and poor customer service. They'll bug the shite out of me about refilling a prescription that doesn't need filling and then drop the ball when I do. Just tired of it.

Local pharmacy is better for me. Can't stand the Walgreens in my area. You can be the only person getting a prescription filled and it's always a 1 hour wait. Once in a blue moon I'll have one done at Walmart.

There's a good chance a local pharmacist either was fired by a national chain or never was a licensed pharmacist to begin with, at least that's what I always heard.

CVS is open on Sundays.I get Xanax there for that reason and Phenergan there because they carry the brand that works.
I get my other 7 prescriptions at the Mom and Pop.Very personalized service.
They have helped me out of a jam,medication-wise,more than once.

CVS and Walgreens suck. I did my rotation with a locally owned communtiy pharmacy and I loved it. They are so much better to work with

Agree 100% with that. If I end up at CVS or Wag I will probably cry. Even Walmart >>>>>>> both
