I have the CKC papers in hand, and I did my research on the breeder before my wife wired him the money. This breeder has people driving from all over the south to get one. When I was picking my pup up, one of the other buyers showed up. They drove from Orlando, FL to purchase one.

Well since he is giving out breeding rights, you will get people from driving wherever to get them. It pretty much ruins the whole "uga bloodline" thing as well because anyone can breed it out of their backyard. Great breeders don't do that, they have well written contracts to make sure their bloodline isn't fouled by some puppy mill or backyard breeder where they can even take back the dog and any offspring you may have created.

I realize everything you're saying. However, it seems suspect that the breeder would register with CKC first, and then use money from the sale of puppies to register with AKC. Wouldn't it be much smarter to do it the other way around? How much does it cost anyway?

Has the OP seen the AKC paperwork on the sire/dame?

Does he have any paperwork (receipt) or legal recourse if the AKC papers never show?

And expensive! Everyone I've ever known who had a bulldog has told me that they are a walking vet bill. But Hey! If the owner is happy, then that's the most important thing.

It's cheap, it sounds fishy to me too.

Nice pup! 1800 is a good price. We paid more than that for ours with a limited registration (can't breed or show him) our breeder gets 3k+ for males with a full registration.

Hell no, we can't take ours anywhere without having to stop every 5 minutes to let someone pet him

I did see the paperwork on the Sire and the Dame, so that let me know he's the real deal. I knew absolutely zero about the process of registering, etc. up until yesterday so I don't know the exact translations or wordings to show absolute proof. However, I am 99% confident in the breeder that I have. He wasn't some dude holed up in a trailer or anything. He was an older gentleman who knew a TON about the dogs. He told me about the surgeries to expect later on with the eye folds, and things like that. Information you wouldn't get from someone just looking to make a quick buck.

Thanks Bueche. DJ is doing great. Between his new baby sister and the new puppy, he's pretty much the happiest kid he can be. No headaches recently, and not complaining about his eyes hurting or what not, so things are looking up. We will know for sure where we stand in about 8-9 months when we go back for his yearly check up. Then we will know if the cyst is growing, or staying the same. So far so good though. Hope you are enjoying life in your neck of the woods

Yea, VERY suspect that the breeder needed to sell a few puppies for nearly $2k each to come up with less than $50.

To the OP, I hope it works out for you, I really do. I've seen this happen to quite a few people and the breeders that are doing it deserve to be shot. Pedigree information is not the easiest thing to decipher, especially when you're looking at a lineage with names like "UGA V's Whatchagot Loran" for each individual animal.

Keep us updated if you wouldn't mind.

I would invest in a good quality (4 star)food. Pay a little now and save in the long run. Bulldogs tend to have food allergies and and skin problems and a quality food will severely cut back on these issues.

That's an awesome dog. A friend of mine has one that looks very similar, and he's as playful as it gets.

All processed dog foods you buy in the store, no matter what brand or how expensive (Blue Buffalo, etc.) are shite. Don't feed your dog anything you wouldn't eat yourself (i.e. raw chicken).

I'm not saying you would eat raw chicken but you would eat chicken.

ETA: Dam Guide beat me to it. Guy knows his shite.

Nice. Mine is a grumpy little shite (about 5 years old)

Good thing she has massive shoulders or she'd never get that big arse head off the ground. She's a big softy though so I'll keep her around
