Country music did not start out as this ultra-republican soap box. Originally, country music was liberal AF, singing songs about smoking dope, sticking it to the man, and going to jail. It was sung by people who lived the life. Dre didn't just rap gangster, Dre was a gangster. Waylon Jennings didn't just sing outlaw, he WAS AN OUTLAW.
These days, we have a bunch of pampered, millionaire, city boys cosplaying as small-town, blue-collar workers telling the masses to lick the boot that holds them down instead of fighting the man.
As far as Jason's song itself, it's very stock and I'd be shocked if it took more than 10 minutes to write. It's over-produced and the only thing that makes it resemble a country song is the singer's poor impression of a country accent.
And regarding the purpose of the song, Try That in a Small Town, no one is coming to riot in a small town. Riots happen in cities with news coverage. And if the riot was worth while, Waylon, Willie and the boys would be down there in the fight for the rights of their fellow humans.

Erroneous on all counts. And hot garbage to boot.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Because "country music" started in the 1970s, "originally".

I’d have never heard of the song if the communists hadn’t had a conniption about it

Let's unpack some of this. It is like every other "modern" country in style, musicality, etc. He does autotune (as virtually all modern recording "artists" do), and does so to excess at times. It is "bad rock with a fiddle", to quote the late, great Tom Petty.

He is from Macon, Georgia, so I would guess it is not a fake accent like the carpetbagger Yankee, Midwestern and Canadian "country" artists are known to affect.

Country music is not about being from the South. Folks in the Plains and the West and Canada and Australia and the UK are country music artists.

But, I agree that country music is not as good. Aldean and so on are just country-fried Nickelback.

Because the blm rioters and antifa would be shot. If they are lucky. Most would put a chain around their neck and take them for a ride through the red dirt

There’s a ton of good country music out there you just won’t find them on the radio too often. I don’t mind Aldean. I’m not going to blare the guy on my radio but I’m not going to turn him off either

That time Earl Scruggs played at a Vietnam war protest with Charlie Daniels LINK

Jimmie Rogers was a hobo. Johnny Cash was a pillhead. Hank Williams took every drug available.

Patty Loveless, You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. LINK

Country music is complicated.

While I agree, I have to ask, then: Why do Bostonian Jo Dee Messina and Canadian Shania Twain affect a Southern accent when they sing?

That's the point I was trying to make. At least Aldean is from Macon, whose folks are known to carry a legit accent.

I agree with the message of the song, but the actual song isn’t that good.
