How do you know that? And obviously he didnt if he forgot a letter. If he knew how to spell it then he wouldn't spell it wrong. He should check his work next time. Teach him accountability for himself so you dont need to point fingers at the teacher. If it was a critical grade in college or high school I could understand more, but its not. Grade school has about 500 assignments, and like I said, it will not even truly count towards college criteria in terms of GPA. Just use it as a lesson for him.

Wow.
The principals should stand behind the teacher. On principle.

You didn't spell principal correctly.
Like father, like son.
(or mother if you are female)

You used 46 words and got an 80 so far...

Was it a typed writing assignment? I'd have much left sympathy if spellcheck and google are available.

Misspelling words on a résumé/job application could cost a person a job interview.

When I was in third grade, I wrote a paper about Cris Carter. My teacher took points off because I spelled Chris wrong.

you went to the principal because your son got a 90? cool

You're the one bitching about your son's teacher taking off points for misspelled words when you're no better at spelling than he is.
Take your own advice.

I don't see the point. I mean, not adding correctly can frick shite up in the real world. No one can spell.

Right? Two pages in and it's obvious OP is a complete cheese dick.

I found you're post quiet humerus.

You went to the principal over this?

See, bs like this from a teacher is the reason kids LEARN to hate writing. 10 points off at any grade is too much. Maybe 3 points.
I mean, there are other components of writing besides spelling. Think about it for a second.
Content - great
Word usage - great
Coherent and unified - great
Sentence structure - great
Misspelled three words - 70 D or F depending on the school.
That is just flat out unfair to grade like that. I have 25 years of teaching with positive results to back that up.

How old is the teacher and what does she look like? Extra credit?

It's not as if he doesn't know how to spell the word. It's just a simple mistake. No way it's worth 10 pts.
The teacher has no idea what he can and cannot spell if it was incorrect on the assignment. Learning to pay attention to small details is the actual lesson here, how many points they accumulate is secondary.

This is how it was when I was a kid. Now I spell like a motherfricker. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, bitch!
