Are you on any daily medications not related to RLS? My father had same issue for nearly four years when we discovered one of his daily meds or a mixture of them caused his issues. It certainly can drive someone to madness.

I have RLS as well. Stress intensifies it to the point where my gf will make me sleep on the couch.

Stretching my legs helps some, like doing toe touches. Also taking antacids everyday can lower your magnesium levels from what I've heard and that is one "theory" that causes it. Maybe take magnesium vitamin or don't take Prilosec everyday like I have to.

ETA: the best "cure" I've ever found for it was oxycodone after I had a dental surgery, unfortunately that's not something you can regularly get your hands on.

I have it and it impacts my entire body. Not just legs. And this is the only thing that settles it down for me to get sleep. Mine can be so bad that I won't sleep for 3 or 4 days straight

My wife has it and says it's like an internal itch in her legs with a need to move them. I'll wake up sometimes and she's doing stretches in bed or next to the bed. I'm groggy and I can just make out a leg pointed towards the ceiling or an arse just above the side of the bed in a yoga pose.

There's medication out there for it. It's the same used to treat Parkinson's disease. Can't remember the name, though.

Requip is what you're referring to.

I have always heard to put a bar of Ivory soap under your sheets by your feet and it helps RLS. Not sure if true but something that I have heard

Interesting information about the effects of low fat/low cholesterol and other nutrients on maintenance of myelin sheath. Check it out.

Then you have an extremely minor case. True RLS is so bad it makes you contemplate eating a bullet for relief.

Go ask your doc about a prescription for Requip.

RLS is a neurological disorder in the same realm as Parkinsons. Requip was originally a drug for Parkinsons and during clinical trials the researchers noticed it helped patients with RLS.

It really works and I bet most of y'all who suffer from it have truly forgotten what a good nights sleep feels like.

Any PCP should feel comfortable giving you some samples or a prescription. They may send you to a sleep doc for a sleep study to confirm the diagnosis. Good luck.

I thought I was the only one with SEVERE RLS. I'm forced to take sleeping pills any night that I don't drink alcohol. If I drink say 6-8 beers and eat a big supper, no problems sleeping at all. When I drink water all day and eat light for supper my RLS symptoms are instant as soon as I get in bed, forcing me to take PM meds 1 hour before bed everyday!
Diet and exercise = RLS like a Mutha
Drink beer and eat like a pig= sleep like a baby
