I parked on the street for work way early this am, got out just now so I was going to leave until I saw that a car that parked behind me actually hit me. It is actually still parked into my bumper, which is now dented a bit and my plate is bent as well (can see the bottom of it curling as he parked into my bumper)

Not a new car but it's now scuffed and the bumper is dented at minimum.

OT just go home or stay and wait for nopd. Probably costs 300-500 to fix and paint depending on if there was any damage underneath too.

Are there cameras around? I'm not sure how you'd prove that they hit you, vs you backing into them.

I'd still call.

Bruh. New car? I'd wait. Probably driven by a woman. She's a piece of shite for not leaving any information.

If the car that hit you is still there, take pics and call your insurance provider to get advice on what else to do.

take pics of car, license plate, and leave a note with your number for them to contact you and exchange insurance info. If they don't go to the police.

I wouldn't leave. Have a police report done. Even if you don't plan to claim or have it fixed, CYA.

they probably didn't move the car in an effort to hide the damage

That's what I was contemplating with, came in at 4am and nobody was parked there. Don't know how one would argue it was him and not me.

This. I would just make sure the person cant call the cops after you leave and claim you hit them and left scene.

If you don't really care, just kick a dent in their car and leave.

I was recently at a business expo and as I was walking to my car this lady accuses me of hitting her car when I was parking. I informed her that her car wasn't parked next to me and that the space was empty. She asked me to prove that the space was empty. I urged her to call the police so she could state her case - we waited about 15 min and she quickly left.
I dunno. I felt bad for her. My car had zero marks, in fact the dust on my car wasn't disturbed.
She got hit somewhere

They came home drunk and didnt realize they hit you. Cut them some slack, probably first time they drink and drove.

Police will do nothing retroactively, if you don't call now they won't help you later.

Learned this the hard way when I was a youngin an some old guy backed into me, prolly drunk and told me to get quotes and he'd take care of it. Ended up shite out luck... Until someone else backed into me and finally got the damage claimed off that!!! :nana:

Slash their tires and spray paint BLM on their car. That'll teach 'em!
