My observations from the Japanese restaurant this evening

Went out to the local Japanese restaurant tonight and made a few somewhat interesting observations, some surprising, some not so much.
1. Table of about 10 high schoolers, 8 guys, 2 girls. For a 15 minute or so stretch, I did not see one cell phone used at the table. Only towards the end of their dinner did a couple or so whip out the phones.
2. Table of 8 (4 couples) middle aged rednecks ( I think all the guys had some form of Carhartts) combined to down about 24 bottles of beer of the part I saw.
3. Table of 10 fatties, all drinking Cokes. Saddest part was there was about a 10 year old fatty girl in the mix.
4. Table of 12 African American men and women, mostly women. For an approximate 5 minute stretch, their decibel level emanating from the table averaged about 85 dB. At first, I thought it was a kid's birthday party going on, before I turned around to see them. It wasn't even the time when the chef goes around flinging shrimp into the mouths of the diners. We left before their table got to that point.

Average. It didn't look like the women were drinking many, if any. One dude, who looked a little like an older Kenny Stabler (and acted like him, too) had about 5 bottles by his seat and at one point he stood up and danced around his chair. Not sure what that was about.

Koreans or ethnic Chinese are working in many “Japanese” Restaurants in Middle America.
My nephew is fluent in Japanese and has a working knowledge of Madarin.
It’s good to go to Japanese Restaurants with him. Or Japan, for that matter.

I have more bad experiences at full service restaurants than good ones. I much prefer fast casual.

I'm not sure any Japanese work in any Japanese restaurants around these parts. Almost always either Vietnamese, Filipino, maybe Korean, maybe Chinese.
Our chef at our table looked Samoan.

Hibatchi is a misnomer in America. What we call hibatchi, the Japanese call teppanyaki. Hibatchi is a thing, but it's an open grate style of cooking.
