Lots of kids need whipping, but parents just can’t do it. I’m thinking of starting a side hustle of a Craigslist business. For $100, I will come to your house and tear their arse up with a leather belt. Masked and anonymous to avoid legal issues, and cash in advance required.
Your about 25 yrs too late. Kids nowadays would put it on the Twitter machine for views. Remember my teenage years. My mom would try to spank me but she was so small I would pick her up upside down. She would still try to spank me. She is still kicking and in her 80's. But she is a great lady and I know what ever I did I deserved it lol.

Going through similar situation with 10yr old daughter and 8 yr old son, so feel your misery. But I was a middle child growing up so I was prepared somewhat for it.
A couple weeks ago, I had enough of their fighting (along with a few other minor things like trying to half-arse chores, back talk, etc) and sat them both down and told them they were done with any and all electronics for 1 month, they could go to extracurriculars like basketball and choir but if they weren't there, they were doing chores, homework, or reading. Told them that if they really are that miserable around each other, that I was going to intervene and truly show them what miserable looked like.
Of course, a couple days into it, one of them wanted to push the limits to see how serious I was. He ended up scrubbing baseboards with an old toothbrush and was NOT happy. Been smooth sailing since then and they have about a week left.
Lay down the law and stick to your guns.

I laid it down pretty good to them today.
Told them I would leave them at school care until 6:00 and at home they would do homework, eat, shower, and get in bed.
I’ve spanked both of them.
I’ve taken tablets away from them.
I’ve sent them to their rooms to sit in the quiet.
Hopefully this will work.

Good dude. Just be consistent. It will work out just fine. You’re obviously a good dad and you care a great deal. They know it and they WILL know it even if you have to get harsh sometimes and lay down the law. You got this.

you did not mention setting expectations and designing consequences. ah now i see youve started.
in addition, since they will be teens some day,
i recommend you read "non violent communication".
book by rosenberg.
theres a website and people who know it well.
just get a sense of it.
try without spanking.
you cant rely on brute force. imagine you re 88 and they get pissed.

I had a neighbor with 3 sons. The oldest and biggest beat the sh!t out of the middle brother and would throw him down the stairs. The middle brother would then beat the sh!t out of the youngest brother and throw him down the stairs. It was pretty common. I had another neighbor with 14 children and the children all got along great without any fighting to my knowledge. They were very religious. That's all I got.

My boy used to have a shirt that said "Will trade sister for tractor." It was a John Deere shirt.
Mine are also three years apart, and rarely get along. They've gotten better as they've both grown. They'll outgrow it.
What you're describing isn't out of the ordinary.

So you don’t have any firsthand experience with kids, but you’re declaring that I’m a terrible parent.
You weren’t quick enough with the edit.

Lock them in a closet for a few hours like most parents do.

I fought with my siblings growing up. My dad used the reward technique. We stopped fighting because we wanted stuff.
