He married a woman who contributes nothing. He doesn't sound very smart to me.

She's a stay at home wife. He can't have it both ways.

Why, works perfectly, wife and I both work make good money and never care what each other spends money on. I have school loans and I would never want help, she also has never asked me for help, when I made more than her, I just paid more bills, now thats is essentially equal, we each take certain bills, split the mortgage. Separate accounts, been together 13 years, it is perfect. Never fought once over money.

You should have found a real man to marry.

I'm pretty sure student loans incurred before marriage are still separate obligations in a community property state and the husband in this case wouldn't be liable to pay them. Granted it could affect other facets of his life, if his wife is in crippling debt and it is affecting community assets. Idk, my guess.

I didn’t read all that but sounds like she got a shitty husband who isn’t really married. The my money your money crap absolutely boggles my mind with married couple.
Some people equate marriage with splitting expenses with a roommate they have sex with. I often wonder what these people would do if their spouse developed a permanent disability where they couldn’t contribute “their” share for the rest of their life.

Exactly. They aren’t married, they’re roommates with benefits. And good point about the disability thing, I’d imagine most would either leave them or bitch and moan about it all the time if they do help her out. It’s just frickin weird, when you get married you become essentially one,, and that means financially too.
