Scientists in Japan have successfully grown mature hair follicles in a laboratory — something researchers hope can lead eventually to effective treatments for baldness and other conditions. A team of scientists from Japan's Yokohama National University published the study in the journal Science Advances on Friday. Their journal article, titled "Reprogramming of three-dimensional microenvironments for in vitro hair follicle induction," described their use of embryonic mouse cells to create a hair follicle that grew 3mm (approximately 0.12 of an inch) over 23 days.

The study marked the first time a mature hair follicle had been grown in a lab, they noted.

Full-heads, your time is over. We’ve been waiting, shaping our personalities and bodies in hope of a new day. The time of the former-bald has come.

They created hair for mice. Congrats to all the bald mice in the world.

No thanks. I’m short, chubby, and bald. My uncanny resemblance to George Costanza is the only reason I get women to pay attention to me.

Well I’ve been cutting my own hair for decades it seems now. And I was doing it before I just went full shaved. So… with hair i would cut it again.

And honestly, I shave my head 2 times a week. I was getting haircuts 2 times a year.

Being bald has lead to more hair cuts.

It’s a shocking and saddening revelation

I have a large crater at the top of my head. Life hasn’t been the same since

This kind of research is so much better than the lunatics building killer robots and species ending diseases.
