Ween down and weed up.
If you are getting the shakes from not drinking then ween down, don’t try to stop cold turkey.

If you think it is bad now, wait till you try to quit.

I found myself drinking a lot more frequently since Covid as well. Decided two weeks ago to have a dry August and I feel great. I highly recommend taking a few weeks off. More energy in general and workouts are a lot better.

Wow, if you can't hold your liquor any better than that you need to switch to pot before it's too late.

As someone who is coming up on one year without a drink in less than a month, I can understand.
I got to a point where I drank every night and then it got to that scary point where I HAD to have a drink to feel ok. That point scared me enough where I began to reach out for help. I went to a few places and walked out every time. I just wasn’t interested in that environment. It’s not for everyone. I finally with the help of my SO and some tough love, finally just said I didn’t want to live like this. I haven’t looked back and I can with 100% certainty tell you that my life has been better in every single way when I eliminated that completely. I haven’t even though about a drink since and I’m happy to be a former drinker.
It’s not a one size fits all issue, but I can tell you it’s pretty amazing to see how destructive drinking can be if you’re one of us that just doesn’t do it appropriately and with actual discipline. Not every one can and that’s ok. I was one of those people.
Good luck and I hope you can find your way. If I can be of any actual help I’m happy to provide my personal email address.

Any advice or experience from the OT?
I had a friend who had a similar situation. He had a choice between cutting back (not even stopping) or divorce. He ended up divorced.
You need to make the choice because no one else can get you to stop/cut back if you don't agree.

Everyone is different, so I can't really give advice.
However, I didn't go a day without alcohol from probably 21 to 25, maybe longer. I honestly thought it was normal to feel the way I did every day at work (hungover, shitty).
I gained a bit of weight and realized I wasn't going to lose it without cutting out the drinking at least on weekdays. The difference in how I felt was unbelievable.
Once I cut back, drinking heavily started resulting in heartburn. Now I get heartburn the minute I start drinking, so I can only do so if I've been taking Prilosec every day.
Honestly dude its just so worth it. I love my drinks. I'm having a drink right now. But the quality of life you have when you cut it out most days is unmatched. The SLEEP. OMG the sleep you get.

Quit drinking if it is causing marriage issues

You already know what to do. So do it. Right now, the alcohol is in control. You need to be in control.

THC is an option. I have a vape stick. However I usually mix THC and my alcohol and it gets even worse for me.
I’m going to start just vaping only...good point.

I missed that part. OP, I envy you. I know a couple dudes like you. 3 drinks and they're partying. I'm still trying to catch a buzz

When you start do you drink more than you intended?
I ALWAYS drink more than I intended. It’s like positive feedback for me. One turns to two turns which turns to falling down can’t walk drunk. At least on weekends.

I had a drink just about every day from 21-35. I was a heavy drinker too. Wayyyy more than OP.
I just don't enjoy not being in control anymore. I have a few bourbons, wine or an occasional beer maybe 2-3 nights per week now. Rarely more than 2.
