You can get four channel 12 v auto DVRs for as low as $50.(Amazon Prime)

Since cameras and dvrs take such little voltage, you can leave them to run all the time. You can set the dvr to only record motion.

I have a front, and rear camera as well as an interior angled to see both cargo doors. I have a cheap rear view mirror monitor (like $30, Amazon Prime) that is always on my wide angle rear cam, then the radio plays the front cam while in AV (my sat radio or phone) seems silly but allows me to take eyes off the road and still look ahead.

I am adding two rear facing wide angle cameras to the rear view mirrors as well, so I will have four way exterior recording at all times. At that point I will just run the other camera on a one channel dvr I have left over from a fpv drone.


Cameras are cheap. You do want to look at the resolution and get a decent one. Cameras in the 40-50 range are better than cameras that cost half that price, though I don't see much better in more expensive cameras. Playing with drones I have gone through a lot of cameras and the cheap $20 tiny cameras are not bad at all.

This covers you in wrecks or in break ins/ vandals.

If you can hook up a car stereo you can do this.

Kinda' closing the barn door after the horse is out. Your odds of being hit again are pretty slim.

what good would a camera do? even if you brought camera evidence to the police, they aren't going to investigate it unless something like a gun was stolen.
