90 percent of people on this board would fricking crumble in a firefight and are gonna bash a dude for not wanting to kill or get killed for politicians lining their pockets.

Exactly, brainwashed under this "patriotism". Defending and attacking are completely different. Are we really "defending" freedom by attacking and invading the middle east and getting our own soldiers killed for no gain.

Not really. Less than 6 months and you can get an uncharacterized discharge if you are a fuyck up but It is the choice of the Army not the soldier, and the discharge is for individuals that are incompatible with military service. Not just wanting to go home. The soldier could just as easily get an article 15 or a court martial for their refusal to perform.
And it is your contention that the facts that you state here are verified and true for the Army right now, here in late August 2018?
Because I have a friend whose very familiar with how all of this works, COL Bofa, and he says differently.

No he’s smart. Screw the army

It's reasonable that the army lets volunteers decide early in.process
Apparently he never saw action so I don't see "coward" being applicable.
There's a lot to being disciplined, living with others and being physically fit as if your life depended on it.
It would have greatly improved this thread if the op had been capable of clarity on how the subject of thread ended his service.

Somebody should have told him the wars are over.
Enough people hate the USA, and Western Culture, to insure that guys are still in some pretty hot areas all over the world. One guy who was in Iraq, and Afghanistan, also did deployments to The Philippines. They have a large Muslim populations over there that wants the US to leave. Pretty sure his next destination is going to be to Africa.

You don't have to leave the domestic USA to find millions of people who hate the USA and Western Culture! One of them was our first half-black President!

The. Things have changed drastically. That was definitely not the case when I was in.

Yes,
The command has the decision making power to initiate and approve a Chapter 8 on an unsatisfactory troop, and then issue an uncharacterized discharge.
The Army doesn't let the enlistee wake up one morning in the first 6 months and just say see you later just because he thinks he made a mistake in enlisting or has a hair up his arse at the drill sergeant.
