I thought making assumptions about clothing wasn't tolerant

I assume people wearing baggy clothes and a dark hoodie are up to no good, trying to start trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and I got scared and said "I'm going to put a bullet in your derrière"

I got into a fight when I was in high school. I'm white, the other guy was black. We got sent to the office. The other guy told the principal that I called him the N word (which I hadn't). Even though he had no one to back him up on his claim, I was suspended for 3 days, and he didn't get in trouble at all. It happens

So you expect me to believe for the 3 days that you were suspended that word never crossed your mind or came out of your mouth?

During his 3rd block, he was pulled from class and called to the principal's office. He then got berated with questions by the assistant principal because a young lady in his 2nd block came to the office balling her eyes out and told them that Dan said "she needed to go back to Mexico where she belonged". The AP told my brother that was a racist comment and would not be tolerated at her school. She had two witnesses (the girls two best friends) and all three are Hispanic-American (in other words, American) according to Dan. Convenient. The girl also called her mom who then proceeded to tell the AP she feared for her daughter's life in returning to school the next day.

Did this happen in Spanish class?

Why did your brother wear a Trump shirt that said “build that wall” on America Day?

That shirt is about as American as a Barack Obama’s shirt.

Presidents come and presidents go, but America sustains.

Because he's against illegal drugs flowing in from our southern border was the sitting president's main issue?

Nothing wrong with it at all

Great. Now what about that celebrates America?

“Celebrates” being the key word.

What gives OT?

While I would never get offended by anything that someone has on a t-shirt, when you dive into politics you run a risk of backlash. Everyone perceives things different so you never know when someone is going to see something completely different than you do.

Me personally, I don't give a frick what someone wears. People who get worked up about it only brings more attention to it and at the end of the day there are a lot of other shite that people could worry about, but like I said.. I can understand the backlash.

Your brother should get six of his friends to claim the other person said something racist toward them and threatened them.

I was told by someone who grew up in Chile that when they study geography in school they are taught that there are only 6 continents, rather than 7. They lump North America and South America into one continent.

This has nothing to do with your story, but I thought it was interesting.

i'm not taking a position, I'm just making more obvious assumptions than he's a vile racist who uses slurs frequently...just like the nba and nfl players don't think wearing a hoodie should result in a toe tag.

wouldn't have caught my eye if not for the specific poster

Or is there still hope to rid of PC culture ? There is no chance that this situation would have played out the same even 10 years ago when I was in high school.

That part doesn't make sense, considering this part...
quote:

I would fully support my brother being reprimanded if their was proof he said something of the sort.

The only thing "PC" about the whole situation is that saying something racist or hurtful to another student would be punishable. A kid "almost" getting trouble because three other kids falsely accused him would have happened 10 years ago, 30 years ago or at any time. If anything, he'd have been more likely to get in trouble back in the day because back then it wasn't considered as likely that people would lie to get others in trouble.

quote:

if I was the AP/school and had to deal with all of that yesterday, SOMEONE would be reprimanded. Because now you either have a racist verbally assaulting young girls, or a liar(s) slandering people who they disagree with just to get them in trouble.

If you don't know which of those you have, who would you reprimand?

Celebrates

was it "celebrate America" or "America" day? regardless, shite is subjective more often than not. for instance maybe he was celebrating America by demonstrating that he's allowed to have an opinion that isn't popular or that other people don't like

kids need to learn and be able to handle that people have different opinions and beliefs and should learn how to handle it like a mature adult. they used to teach shite like that. what one person sees isn't what another person sees, etc.

What does this even mean?
It was America Day.
He wore a shirt with the President of the United States on it, and one of his campaign slogans/running platforms.
How does that not celebrate America?

Pretty sure it's only against the code when it's made from a real flag. Wearing clothes that have the red and white bars, navy box, white stars, etc. isn't considered a violation of the code.

that's actually against the code in and of itself

quote:

The words "flag, standard, colors, or ensign", as used herein, shall include any flag, standard, colors, ensign, or any picture or representation of either, or of any part or parts of either, made of any substance or represented on any substance, of any size evidently purporting to be either of said flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America or a picture or a representation of either, upon which shall be shown the colors, the stars and the stripes, in any number of either thereof, or of any part or parts of either, by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, colors, standard, or ensign of the United States of America.[2]
