you can ask for a raise that would be the same as what the new position wouldve paid or you can quit because you dont want to be part of a company where they wont allow you to excel and move up

Ask for a raise that would be comparable to what you would have gotten with the promotion or quit. Pretty much your only 2 options.

If you requested it, tell them you want a damn good explanation and that if they dont fix it (i.e. give you a raise thats comparable to what you wouldve been paid in the new position), you're going to walk
