The USFS has about 35,000 employees, they add temp help in summer. So they lose a total of about 10%, probably a good chunk if which is temporary.
The NPS has 20,000 full time, temporary, and seasonal employees. They lose about 5%, again probably largely temp and seasonal people.
They’re not slashing to the bone.

But we aren’t talking about opening the sky. We are talking about getting rid of employees which is only 3-4% of the budget. Without reforming social security, Medicare, Medicaid, or the military all we are getting is rain drops here and there (and causing a lot of disruption doing it)

Stop being willfully obtuse. It's not just redundant employees. It's worthless, corrupt programs being identified and slashed.
It's 20 million "people" over 120 on social security being booted.
A ton of waste will be identified and cut with this slash and burn method.
Once the worst of the corruption and graft have been burned away, some of the more worthy jobs and programs will return.
It's simply grown too big and the debt is out of control. It will come with some temporary pain.
