Murder Story of the Year - Blancharde Murder (Springfield, MO - Louisiana Link)

After Hurricane Katrina, a woman and her daughter (Dee Dee and Gypsy Blancharde) arrived in Springfield, MO in 2005 on a medical helicopter which was filmed by KY3 news. They claimed to be fleeing Hurricane Katrina and apparently all medical records documenting the girl's leukemia and muscular dystrophy treatments had been lost in the disaster.
Since 2005, Dee Dee (the mom) and gypsy have received incredible outpouring of financial and gift support. Habitat for Humanity helped them build a new home. Kansas City doctors routinely flew Dee Dee and Gypsy to KC to attend cancer camps free of charge. Over the years the gifting was massive. The entire community of Springfield knew the Blancharde story and overwhelmingly supported the family.
However, it was all a lie! There is nothing wrong with the girl (18 now). She does not have cancer or muscular dystrophy. She and her mother had been acting the entire time, but they took it to a whole new level.
Gypsy was not allowed to be seen in public as a "normal person". She was always in a wheelchair, hunched over, head shaved (ie. cancer), and spoke with an impediment.
She lived a "normal" life only on facebook where she create an alternate persona, met a young man from Wisconsin, and according to her they fell in love.
She talked him into driving to Springfield, MO to unite with her. During his visit, Gypsy asked him to kill her mom. He stabbed her multiple times and nearly cut off her head.
It was only when cops were searching for the "handicapped and ill child" that they stumbled upon her alternate facebook identity and realized there was more to this story. When they arrested her, she was walking and talking like a normal person and it was at that moment that police began to realize that Dee Dee and Gypsy had been living a life of massive fraud and deception.
The story is below. Crazy stuff.

Jesus. Seems like the plot to a John Waters film. I can see Divine playing the fat arse mom.

Lots of Louisiana trash moved to other places and took advantage of people's good nature. Katrina was the perfect recipe for them to take advantage.
We are a very giving state, but like anyplace else, we have some scum.

I deserve all your razzmatazz and shite. I've been a shitty poster for years. This is do or die for me. This is my Cersei walk-of-shame.
Either I tow the line or I'm outta here for good.
Give me as much shite as you want. This is my penance.

Very fricked up.
Honestly, it's 100 percent movie material. This is the perfect material for someone like David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Social Network, Gone Girl)

A child with leukemia would have been going to St Jude anyway. Their records would have been intact.
I almost feel sorry for the girl. She probably wanted her mom killed for forcing her to live that lie for so long. It has undoubtedly fricked her up bad
