The 35 mph speed limit on Staring is a joke... but cops are out there ALL THE TIME, so I make sure to pay attention to my speed.

It's not like they are going to forgive you because the speed limit is too low.

Took me 56.3 extra seconds to go 35 instead of 45.

So if you make the drive twice a day, you are wasting about 12 hours of your life over the course of a year... just on that short stretch of roadway. That's ridiculous to me.

Is it really a "trap" if you willingly speed?

No. There are probably signs with large numbers on them noting the acceptable speed limit....but the cognitively challenged can't figure that out.

I expect they're secretly hoping to catch someone driving the wrong way so they can ridicule them.

There are like 100 wrong ways signs on that road.

The speed limit is too low, but I learned very quickly to expect a speed trap like once a week.

Doing 90 on the interstate is one thing, going 45 mph on a four-lane boulevard with a grass median in the center is hardly life-endangering

I agree. However at what point can cops enforce speeding? It is a judgement situation, but with the way people are now days they can't make that call. If you would allow ten over on the interstate people would bitch because they got a ticket for 10 over in a 25 and its not fair. Cops don't decided what speed to make a road. If they can enforce it and get a few easy tickets out of it they will. It makes them look good. Either go the speed limit, or take the risk of getting a ticket. I am okay with it. I just got a ticket for going 40 in a 25. I didn't fuss because I knew what the speed was and sped anyway. No the speed should not be 25mph where I got the ticket, but it was.

[quote]No one in the history of time has died simply from "speeding" in a car. It may make an accident caused by bad driving worse, and it may make already bad drivers more dangerous, but a good driver can speed their whole life and never once have an accident.[/quote

You knew I did not mean literally speeding kills. So you knew exactly what I meant and decided to post this anyway? hmm. So when people say "smoking kills" you are the idiot who says no, " it's actually the cancer or COPD."

No shite. I think they must have had a surplus of "Wrong way" signs, it was a "use it or lose it" funding situation, and they dumped them all onto Staring. All those signs bring a smile to my face every time I drive down that street.
