Been to the airport 4 times since opening and there was basically no issues at all getting from the interstate to the airport.

meh, show me their profit margins vs last year and then we can actually talk about it being a success or not.
lots of places have sky high revenue and don't make any money.
Revenues show demand. Increased revenues = increased demand.
Profit is a whole nother beast.

let's build something nice and not care how people get in or out of it.

And the road issue immediately around the airport cant easily be fixed
The Loyola interchange hasnt been the big problem

I just flew in and out of the new MSY for the first time this week. The cluster F that is walking to and from long term parking/around the ground transportation area is hilariously bad. Why did they not build a sky bridge over all of the lanes of traffic? The police officer/traffic guards were yelling at all of the cars to keep moving, then they were yelling at the people standing in the cold just trying to cross to get to their cars. I felt badly for anyone visiting NOLA for the first time getting yelled at right when they arrived I heard locals apologizing to the visitors for the rude welcome
This was my complaint — it took us 15 minutes maybe to cross to get to the garage as the cops/security kept screaming to get back and let cars through.
A skywalk would be awesome.

You couldn't even find a water fountain in the old terminal, it was seriously 3rd world

Maybe they could save the money, tweak things instead? We are short highway dollars, and we could do more elsewhere.
Take 5 million (or whatever) and redesign the rideshare area / build a new one.
Take 5 million (or whatever) and add a raised walkway from long term parking to the terminal.
Take the remaining 90 million (or whatever) and invest elsewhere in our road system.

Plenty of airports work fine without interstate interchanges.
Small/medium airports rarely need an interchange. Granted it would be welcomed at all airports.

Revenues show demand. Increased revenues = increased demand.
And if you don't know how to leverage pricing to capitalize on the demand increase, you are a true failure. Any "new" business can break into a market or increase market share by running at 0 or negative margins to drive up demand for their product. That is my point.
Reporting revenue increases is great and I hope they understand how to make it work, but calling it a success right now is premature, no matter how you report the numbers.

The LT garage was not part of the original bid plan. It was supposed to be green space available for later expansion. When they made the decision, after construction began, to move from 30 to 35 gates (i.e. expansion pack 1), they added the LT garage.
I don't know why at that time they didn't also add a raised walkway, maybe they were trying to save money.
After all, ST parking IS connected to the terminal.
Maybe they can take some of their new profits and build one soon.
And as your comment about the traffic cops "yelling" at people... once again... we can build the nicest things in the world, but if our people are still stupid and ignorant, can't fix that.

Here is IB telling you taxpayers shouldn't have to fund a billion dollar food court.

The comment from IB and others was that no one wants to eat in the NOLA terminal, shop in the NOLA terminal, etc, they just want to get there right before the plane boards and take off.
Revenue increases mean more money is being spent by people eating and drinking and shopping at the airport. That can't be disputed. And having eaten there a couple of times before flights, it's not like it's super cheap.
You also have to keep in mind, there are lots of hands in the pie here. The airport is charging "rent" in the form of a percentage of sales. The master concession (Delaware North or HMS Host) gets a cut. And then the restaurant itself gets a cut.

Taxpayers funded the apron and the road work.

The traffic at the drop off is horrible. Same for the round about on any busy weekend.
The terminal is there and even though not needed that it is what it is. The road system at the terminal is a bad design.
Even the big government lovers like LSUHouston should agree that a smart thing to do would be to reopen one of the concourses at the old terminal so that those facilities are not wasted. We will then have an actual increase in infrastructure capacity.
Today all we have is a massive food court with little ability to handle more air traffic and less ability to handle auto traffic.
We do not need hundreds of million more spent on a flyway. That would simply be another pot of money the political class can use to pass out to their buddies.

Your take is completely wrong.
You are bringing up 5% of the time and presenting it as all the time.
You also fail to remember thar traffic at the old terminal was similar during peak hours.
I agree with you on the interstate, but people like you cried about how bad the traffic was going to be without the damn airport even being open.

You are one strange dude.
That would be terrible. Why would we use an outdated space that we don't need? We now have an increase in capacity, we don't need more capacity anytime soon. When we do, we have the room to expand. The costs of that would be cheaper than dealing with a dilapidated old space on the other side of the airfield.
We all agree it needs some work.
All of this is completely false and refuted by the vast majority of posters.

This. In the year or two before the new terminal opened, the garages routinely sold out, and traffic would back up from the terminal all the way down airline past williams and back up the access road. People constantly complained of missed flights.
