I considered this and ultimated decided a very thin white power cable that goes up and is stapled to the crown molding would be 'good enough' considering the hassle of doing what you're talking about.
here's a pic (sorry for shitty/blurry quality) and absolutely nobody notices the white extension cord.
it has a chromecast in back so no need for additional wiring.

It looks like you have a two-way fireplace..? Do you have draft issues at all?

I have my cables RIGHT NEXT to the silver tube running up and out the chimney.
No problems yet.
Come to think of it, I don't know if we've lit a fire since I went cable-less.

Gotcha.
I can actually get into the fireplace through a closet believe it or not, there's an access panel so I can literally stand up in there next to the fireplace box and flue and run the cables if that's the route I go with this.

if you can reach back in there were the wires will come through the brick just pull the conduit tight up against the brick.

OP,
CAD703X's photo is the way you should do it. Run your wiring up the wall into the attic. You can even hide the cord with clever usage of wall strips. Just paint them to match the color of the wall or brick. No one will notice or care and it'll look good. I still recommend using a wireless receiver to cut down on television cords.

seriously though i rarely use it. getting it going you run the risk of a cold chimney and smoke going into the rooms until the upward draft is established then you never get the smell out of the room.
we have a wood burning fireplace we use way more.

I've looked into this a good bit. My fiance bought a 110 year old house that used to have a two-way fireplace in it. She and I both want to eventually have it opened back up to burn real fires, but are a little concerned about the whole draft issue.

If you turn your TV off when using the fireplace the cables will be fine.

DO NOT OPEN WINDOWS as even a small breeze will carry smoke out of the fireplace.
also plan to spend $500-$1000 per side to buy good quality sealed glass enclosure that you can close or vent. you will be sorry if you cut corners here. you need a good set of sealed screens installed that you can quickly shut completely.
eta and if you actually want to use this to offset heating costs, something like this might be in order. fireplaces are TERRIBLY inefficient but if you turn it into a stove, they're pretty nice in cold weather.
