"She bowed down before those who were spent, left to die on the side of the road, seeing in them their God-given dignity. She made her voice heard before the powers of this world, so that they might recognize their guilt for the crime of poverty they created," he said in Latin.

My grandparents had a picture of her above their staircase. I was walking by it one day and said the same thing. Next thing I know I lose my balance and trip down the stairs.

Isn't she accused of never actually helping people? I've heard people claimed she (and her ministry) basically kept people in their living condition in order for her to keep her appearance in helping them.

There are 270 million poor in India. That's about 22 % of their population. She didn't need to keep anyone impoverished. The woman did godly works and was a decent, caring person.
