This has been around forever. Peanut allergies just ain't popped up overnight.
actually this is false
peanut allergies have risen because we stopped giving children peanuts at an early age, mostly because of bad advice from doctors
plenty of recent studies have shown that delaying the introduction of peanuts (or any food) increases the chances of allergies up to like 75%

Peanut allergies haven't been around for forever? yes they have, maybe a bit more prevalent, but its not a modern day invention.

well yeah, obviously, but the prevalence is a lot more than they used to be due to us being scared of peanut allergies and not giving peanuts to out kids till they are older

You suck at life.
Go eat some peanuts.
I hope you're allergic.
Just kidding.

well internet, social media etc has made the rate in which you hear about incidents go up as well.

People used to do this all the time with the window partially down, at least for kids a little older than that. Maybe not 7 months but 4 or 5 years old and older. I used to think it was normal. Now it gets people arrested and puts them in the news.
eta: I don't remember if they left the car on. I think they did if A/C or heat was needed.

You guys would have never survived the 70's. Pussies.
Or the 90's. I used to stay in the car by choice 80% of the time.

Definitely wouldn't leave the car running. The 5 year old could get into some trouble quick-like playing with the car.
Do you raise idiots?

if that car is locked, what danger are the kids in? its not like it is 97 deg outside.
I believe the OP said the car was still running. That being the case, there's a whole lot that could go wrong.

Yep. I don't want to go in the store mom. Just leave me in the car and let me read or color.
Happened at least once a month.

At 5 I had enough sense not to mess with anything in the front if left in the car, especially anything on the driver side.
As I got older and left longer I had enough sense not to touch anything but the radio.
Sorry your children are stupid.

kids are curious, sometimes they make mistakes
I wouldn't trust a 5 year old alone in a running vehicle unless it had the remote key start feature
but by all means, please leave your 5 year old alone and I'll laugh when you come back to your car in the ditch
